9 months
Dear Reece,
9 months. Where has the time gone? I remember when I found out I was pregnant, 9 months seemed sooooo far away. Time seemed to literally "stand still" everyday and it was the longest time period of our lives. Today, you turn 9 months and this time around, well, these 9 months have flown by.
Where has my little newborn gone? You are getting so big. At your last pediatrician appointment you were 18 lbs 1 oz. Your "official" 9-month check-up isn't until next week. Right now you are under the 10th percentile in weight! To us, you are just so big.
So what have you accomplished this month?
You can now scoot across the house. You have yet to crawl (silly boy, you were supposed to do that for Mommy's birthday!) but you pull yourself with your arms and right leg wherever you want to go. The other day you scooted yourself into the kitchen and said "mama?" and my heart melted. I wasn't there. I was in the living room. You chase your Tonka truck all over the house and have begun pulling yourself up on Mommy, Daddy, your toy kitchen, and toy box. Perhaps your favorite thing to do is pull yourself up on the back of the couch and play with the blinds.
You prefer to feed yourself. In fact today you are on a bottle strike. You don't want to drink anything! You love your puffs, mozarella cheese, and cut-up frozen peaches. Mommy and Daddy don't even try to put them in your mouth. You are a big boy and want to do it yourself! You laugh a lot, and you let out a big "HA" when you want someone to pay attention to you and you clap your hands when it is time to eat. You are most ticklish on the insides of your legs. We just love you to pieces!
This month you did a lot of new things.
- You flew to Wisconsin alone with Mommy to visit Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Brink. There you saw your first fire. In July! You also met Stellan and John-John, friends from Babycenter. Grandma Brink made you vanilla pudding and you loved it!
- You got rid of your "baby" bathtub and now you bathe in the regular tub. You love playing with toys and splashing bubbles everywhere.
- Mommy and Daddy left you for the first time and you stayed with Grandma Smiley.
- You go to the YMCA Waterpark weekly now and you love it! At first you weren't too sure about all the water-canons and fountains, but now you can't get enough of them. And going underwater? That's for babies!
- Kristin and Mac came to visit. Mac brought all of his trucks and you loved them! You now love anything that has wheels or moves. We have since bought a few new trucks and you can't keep your hands off them!
- Daddy gives you vanilla ice-cream as a bedtime snack. You are so cute sitting there with your mouth hanging open ready for your bite.
Reece, Daddy and I love you so much. You make us laugh when you let out your "MAMMAMMAMAMAMA" screams or when you try to get our attention. Even when you wear us out, your eyes and your smile are enough to keep us going and going and going. So, baby boy, here is to the next 9 months. And the 90 years after that. You are amazing and we just fall in love more and more each day!
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
